The end of a great series: Inheritance

Inheritance (2011)
Paolini, Christopher
Fantasy
9/10
850 Pages
Warnings:  Violence.

This book is about a boy named Eragon, who used to be a poor farm boy, until he found a dragon egg in the forest hunting.  It soon hatches and he becomes part of the old legends of the Dragon Riders.  The Dragon Riders were all enslaved or killed hundreds of years ago by the evil king Galbatorix.  Now it is his job to kill Galbatorix and free the rest of the people from Galbatorix.

Part of the theme of this book is about finding who you truly are inside, not just what other people think about you.  Also how no matter how big of a challenge you are given, you can accomplish it.

Inheritance is a very intense, some what slow-moving at first but once you get into it, the book really speeds up.   Paolini uses a third person omniscient narrator that knows only Eragon's, Roran's, Nasudas's, and Saphira's Thoughts and feelings.  His style has been compared to J. R. R. Tolkien's author of  Lord of the Rings,  He plans it out very well so it all comes together in a very unique way.

This book targets teenagers and young adult boys, some girls will like it but it is mostly for boys.  It is a very heavy read so only those who read often, will be able to fully appreciate this book.

I would recommend this book, it is a very intense and exciting book, it was still a long read for anyone but it went by very quick.  There were times when it got boring but even during those parts I didn't want to put the book down.  The New York Times calls it "An authentic work of great talent." , and The Philadelphia inquirer calls it "A rich, sophisticated novel."
